I bought a fake Colourpop lipstick so you don’t have to!

Hey guys,

So this is something different. I was buying some bits on eBay and saw a listing for Colorpop Matte Liquid Lipsticks, they said they were genuine and that they were a U.K. Seller, but because I know fakes exist, I knew this one was fake as it was £1.89.

It wasn’t from a U.K. Seller, firstly, it came from Hong Kong and took nearly 2 months to arrive. When it did finally arrive yesterday, it came looking like this.

It was battered! And I don’t know if all the colours have a bright red cardboard cap, but what I ordered was not a bright red lipstick! When I tried to open the box firstly the little tag broke into like 3 bits and the tube was stuffed in so tight, that I had to open the other end and push it out.

Once it was out, it looked really good, apart from the side of the bottle, where the screw in is, is chipped. Not good for a brand new product really.

The applicator was nothing to write home about, it was a standard doe foot and picked up the product as well as any other. It was fuzzy and full which I don’t personally mind from a real product!

As you can see, the colour isn’t anything to shout about. It’s dark pink. It smelt like play doh and honestly, I’m not down for that. I love the play doh smell, but not on my lips.

This is how it looked after one layer, and after maybe 20secs, my lips were tingling and I began to freak out. My lips also seemed to swell a tiny bit which didn’t help with the freak out. After one layer you can see the colour has next to no pigment, and doesn’t show on my lips. It also took a long time to dry and was very tacky to the touch which I personally found annoying. It didn’t sit awfully on my lips, and it didn’t feel mega drying, but it wasn’t as good as legit Liquid lipsticks I own.

This is two coats and honestly, look at it. It’s rubbish! My wholehearted suggestion is buy some liquid lipsticks from Superdrug for a couple of pound, you’ll get better results and know what the hell is on your lips.
So guys, please, if it looks too good to be true, it is!

Everyday Makeup Routine

Hi team!

Something different today, so I woke up bright eyed, bushy tailed and ready to slay at 5:30am. What is life? I also locked myself out of my house this morning for 15 mins. Again, what is life?

I thought I’d show you my daily makeup routine for work.

So I start by clensing my face with my favourite Garnier Skin Active Micellar Water for Sensitive Skin. I have noticed such a difference in the texture of my skin since using this, it literally takes every inch of makeup and grime from my face, so y’know, it’s a winner.

After my face has dried completely from the micellar water it’s time to prime for me. This is a new one for me, it’s the W7 Prime Magic

Camera Ready Primer. I will write a full review of this once I’ve given it a fair chance. My foundation lasts so much longer with a primer, so for me it is a must!

So next we have base. I am currently using Wet and Wild Photofocus Foundation in Porcelain. I have been using this little buffing brush to blend my foundation in. I got it from eBay for a pound! I have seen the same one on Amazon for 49p. Bargain!

I use Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light under my eyes and around my nose, also any spots that just need an extra bit of help.

So base is down, we’re blended next is colour. I was sent this ELF Pink Lemonade Highlight in my makeup swap with angelinabbdoll, and it is so good for a cream blush. You don’t need a lot, but it gives a gorgeous rosey glow. It also smells of lemonade #revalation. I use this Benefit Hoola Bronzer which I got in a miniatures set to sculpt out some cheek bones, and warm up my face. I have been using this ELF Shimmer Powder as a subtle highlight and I’m honestly in love, I highlight both cheeks, my nose both tip and bridge and my forehead. I will shine bright like a diamond.

Once I’m at this point, I will do my eyebrows, which I forgot to photograph. I am still using the Makeup Revolution Arch and Shape Brow Pencil. I just follow the natural shape of my brows and fill in any sparse areas. I do this first to just avoid mess. Next is shadow, I use my I Heart Makeup Unicorn Love Palette as it has lots of lovely warm transitional colours and gorgeous shimmers which I find very versatile. Eyeliner is Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner in Carbon Black. It is just the best eyeliner I have ever used. Flicks made a breeze. I use MUA Amplify Statement Lash Mascara as honestly, it’s amazing. My lashes look so long and thick, their isn’t much more you can ask of a £3 mascara!

Lastly is lippy, today was NYX Liquid Lingere in Exotic. I was quite heavy handed today, coz it came out quite dark, like my soul.

I really hope you’ve enjoyed my daily makeup routine, let me know if you’d like to see more posts like this.

Wet and Wild Liquid Catsuit in Pink Really Hard Review

Hi team!

Hope everyone’s week has gone well! Again it’s been hectic at work, so I think Tuesday and Sunday will become my new posting days.

Today I will reviewing Wet and Wild Liquid Catsuit in Pink Really Hard from my make up swap with Angelinabbdoll on instagram.
Firstly, the packaging is super sturdy, I would have no worries throwing this in the bottom of my bag after application. It has a Hard plastic casing, and a sturdy black plastic lid which has a great twist in locking mechanism, so no guessing if you’ve closed it fully which is great for me since on my early shifts, I do my makeup in the car haha.

The applicator is a standard Doefoot applicator, and as you can see below, holds a fair amount of product which will do your top lip in one, and your bottom lip in two(if you have a big bottom lip like me)

The colour is what it says on the tin Pink Really Hard this is the perfect springtime Pink for yellow undertones like me, because it is undoubtedly baby Pink, but has more of a brownie salmon hue then fushia which I think compliments my skin tone nicely. Put on in one layer, and this Liquid lipstick gives a beautiful nudey pink colour that compliments a spring look.

Contrary to that picture, it does actually have a very thin consistency. The consistency helps with the staying power in my mind, because you only truly need one layer and you’re covered. This is a buildable colour so if you wait for later one to dry you can build up a more vibrant look.

I really hope you’ve enjoyed this review, please leave a comment below if you did!

Wet and Wild Photo Focus Foundation Review!

Hi team!

Thank you for you patience with me! I have had a hectic couple of weeks and haven’t had time to contemplate blogging, so I am very sorry!

So I a makeup swap with my girl @angelinabbdoll on instagram, and one of the items I requested when she asked was the Wet and Wild Photofocus Foundation in Porcelain.

Everyone and their mum has tried this Foundation and loved it, so my hopes were sky high. I’ve not been disappointed!

So the packaging comes in a heavy glass bottle which gives this foundation an expensive feel, which is pretty awesome as it costs like $7 in the US. It has a spatula applicator, which I don’t hate, but I would prefer a pump, because this is a very thin consistency Foundation and sometimes you don’t need as much as what you get.

Colour wise, I have not found a better match yet. I am pale AF as we all know, and this gives me a great match without making me look like a ghost! The foundation is a medium to high coverage, and is buildable, when it goes on my face, it just makes the skin look alive.

I also need to give this Foundation its dues, in that it doesn’t need a powder to put other powder products on your face such as bronzer, but a setting powder does help the staying power.

My only gripe, and it’s minor considering the rest of its great attributes, is that after 5 or 6 hours it sticks to some of my dryer patches on my jawline and left cheek. But I work in an air conditioned office for 9hrs a day. So its to be expected, it doesn’t break down on my T-zone area which can get greasy, so I’d call it a win.

I know it’s a pain that Wet and Wild is not readily available in the UK. This foundation can be purchased on both Amazon and EBay.

Eco Tools Lovely Look Makeup Brush Mini Collection

Hello team!

Salutations from the bath, as it’s been a stinker of a week. Wah.

So Saturday, Joe and I took a stroll in to town so that I can mail the makeup i bought for a makeup swap with @angelinabbdoll on instagram, she lives in the states so i sent her some awesome bits from Supadrug, and she is sending me some Wet and Wild Photo Focus Foundation amongst some other small bits, so a review will be up of that Asap.

As we were in town, we popped in to TK Maxx to look at the homeware and nick nacks. We bought a prop for our wedding in October which is exciting and at the tills I spotted these beauties.

These were £7.99 which I didn’t think was awful as I have heard great things about Eco Tools, and I am on the hunt for more great quality tools. The set comes in a little book holder, that made of hard cardboard and is really durable, it will always hold the brushes in place, I can’t see it getting slack over time. The box has a glossy, high end feel to it, which is pretty awesome for £7.99.

As we can see, the brushes are a mini set, but upon first use this hasn’t put me off, they don’t need to be any bigger for me. The set has a powder/blush brush, a foundation brush, two eyeshadow brushes, one for all over and one for more precise lines, and then a lip brush. I must confess I haven’t used the lip brush, as i don’t have any lip stains or low enough lipsticks.

First up, the foundation brush was lovely, it has the standard shape, kind of off almost, and has a good packing of bristles. I put the foundation on my hand first, but next time I will dot on my face and then blend in for even coverage. This left no streaks or brush marks on my face, so I’d call it a win. The only downside is the brush needed immediately cleaning afterwards because it didn’t absorb any product.

The powder and blush brush was my favourite of this whole set, it was super soft, and picked up the right amount of product first time. I used it for both powder and blush, and whilst it was fine for blush, I really liked it for powder. The loose powder just glided on perfectly.

I bought this set for the eyeshadow brushes, and to be honest, I’m a little disappointed. The all over the lid brush is scratchy. That’s all I can really say. Blending was hurting, and I ended up using my Boots Seventeen Eyeshadow Brush to blend the edges, coz my sensitive eyes couldn’t stand the scratch. The flat detail brush was a redeemer though, it applied brown shadow to my lash line like it was liner and was so easy to do my brows with.

My final look with the brushes…

Overall I am happy with this purchase, I am still on the hunt for good eyeshadow brushes though, so hit me up in the comments with your recommendations.

Thanks for reading!

Loreal Infallible Total Coverage Foundation

Hey guys,

Sorry for the two day silence, working the bank holiday and working til 8pm leaves me a tiny bit drained occasionally, so I’m sorry!

Today I am reviewing the Loreal Infallible Total Coverage Foundation in Porcelain. I bought this because of the huge hype around the advertising. Someone earnt their bonus there. I got this for £9.99 which in all honesty is quite pricey for a drugstore foundation.

The bottle is interesting as far as a £10 foundation goes, I would expect a proper bottle at that price point, but whatever. It has a screw top lid and doesn’t get mucky, so that is a plus for the packaging itself. Another upside is that you have more control over how much product comes out, apposed to a pump bottle.

Excuse the lack of the rest of my makeup here. And my wonky boobs haha.

As we all know, this is a super matte finish, however it does stay quite wet on the skin for a little while after application, so if you are in a rush, I would suggest that you use a setting powder. It mixes well with concealer under the eyes too, without going floppy, which is great.

As you can see, the formulation is very thick, and this helps with its ‘Total Coverage’ claims. I can’t fault the coverage on this foundation on application. This covers every skin sin going, so it is amazing for covering scars and redness, however, it sticks to dry patches and dispite the thickness, it leaves the skin feeling kinda dry. It does also claim to be lightweight on the skin, which it is. It’s not cakey feeling at all.

Overall, it does what it says on the tin, but I think I was expecting more. I wouldn’t buy this again, just because it sticks to my dry patches, but I had never used a matte foundation before, and I like the look, so I will be on the look out for the perfect matte foundation!

What matte foundations do you recommend? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Easter Sunday Bright Eye Tutorial

Hello beauties,

So yesterday was Easter, and my one day off over the bank holiday, so I wanted to have fun with my makeup!

I started with my L’oreal Infallible Total Coverage foundation in Porcelain and applied with a dry Real Techniques Sponge as my base, and spot concealed with my trusty Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light. I also dabbed this over my eyelids and under my eyes to cover the bags from not sleeping much Friday and Saturday. After this was covered, I used MUA Professional Ultra Fine Loose Setting Powder in Translucent.

Eyes were the best bit of this look! This whole eye look was completed with Makeup Revolution Unicorn Love Palette. I as ever used the matte white (1) all over the lid, to help the other shadows glide on and for the colours to pop! After, I use the red tones brown in the top row (2) as a transitional colour in the crease of my eye. I blended this out then went in with the light purple shade which has a light shimmer all over the lid and into the crease. I had to go over this a couple of times as o wanted the colour to be really vibrant (3). I then use the darker purple shade that is a very shimmery shade all over the lid, again I applied a couple of layers to really make the shimmer noticible (4). (5) is where the fun begins, I used the dark turquoise shimmer in the outer corner of my eye, though the outer of the crease and under the lash line.

I then lined my eyes with Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner in Carbon Black and used MUA Amplification Statement Lash Mascara in Black to coat my lashes

The rest of my face, I used Benefit Hoola Bronzer to sculpt out my cheeks and to warm up my forehead and temple. I use a Real Techniques Core Collection Contour brush for this, and use upward motions on my cheeks to help them blend nicely.

For blush I used the nude shimmer in the Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette in Sugar and Spice all over the apples of my chubber cheeks, then Makeup Revolution Vivid Bakes in Golden Lights to highlight my cheekbones, my nose and my Cupid’s bow, coz shining is fun!

My lips are the MUA Velvet Liquid Lipstick in Reckless. It honestly lasted so well through a roast dinner, mint sauce, chocolate cake, wine and tea! So I think I might have judged this harshly in the past.

Let me know of you liked this look, if you try it, drop me a tweet @amytoriabeauty of the outcome!
